Wi2Wi Partners with SiRF to Deliver Industry's Smallest SiRFstarIII Based GPS Module

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 23 // -- Wi2Wi, a leading provider of OEM communications products for Tier 1 PC OEMs and wireless systems for PAN, WAN and LAN, announces a partnership with SiRF to become a part of their Value Added Manufacturer (VAM) network. It also announces the availability of the industry's smallest fully-integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver module. At just 15mm x 15mm, the Wi2Wi device is near half the size of competing solutions, and incorporates SiRF Technology Holdings Inc.'s GPS- enabled location technology.

"Wi2Wi team, with its established track record in the wireless industry, brings both innovative GPS and multifunction product concepts and localized customer support capabilities for the US market," said Kanwar Chadha, founder and vice president of marketing for SiRF. "We are pleased to add Wi2Wi to our VAM program to help us accelerate the time to market for a broad range of GPS enabled consumer products."

Wi2Wi's products address the market for mobile, power-sensitive terminals such as cell phone/smart phones, PDAs, and MP3/personal audio players and other consumer devices. Wi2Wi's expertise in small-form factor RF circuit design results in a module (part number W2SG0001) which will enable device manufacturers to more quickly and more efficiently GPS-enable their products.

The W2SG0001 from Wi2Wi integrates best-in-class systems. GPS is provided by SiRF Technology's latest SiRFstarIII solution and can deliver time-to-fix faster than other silicon solutions. Wi2Wi's W2SG0001 has excellent sensitivity which is a necessity in urban canyons and with hand held devices which may not always be in open air. The W2SG0001 is easy to integrate with a UART interface and a Solder Down connection with an external connector for use with either an active or passive antenna. The W2SG0001 is a full system solution, including clock and voltage regulation functions.

"We have combined best-in-class silicon from SiRF and the expertise of Wi2Wi in providing small form-factor communication products to enable GPS in a variety of mobile devices" commented Ramzi Al-Harayeri, President and CEO of Wi2Wi. "The small size and complete receiver solution from Wi2Wi will allow OEMs and ODMs to enable GPS in products where space is constrained."

The W2SGW0001 is available now as development kit and sample packs. Volume production is scheduled for Fall 2006.
