American Bright Optoelectronics Corporation Introduces New Brighter Super-Flux LEDs that Meet SAE/ECE & JIS Automotive Color Requirements

The new and improved BLF series has increased brightness by as much as 30% while maintaining existing current consumption specifications.

Chino, Ca. September 4th, 2007 - American Bright Optoelectronics introduced the new and improved BLF series of super-flux LEDs designed to meet the existing and future requirements of the automotive, signaling and sign industries. The industry standard footprint is available in a wide range of SAE/ECE & JIS approved colors to accommodate signaling and marker light applications including a new white for interior lighting applications. The package is completely RoHS and WEEE compliant making it suitable for products with global integration and use.

The BLF series produces a typical luminous intensity of 5000mcd at 50mA in white (typ., x=0.32 y=0.31) with a viewing angle of 90 degrees. The 625nm super-red version produces a typical luminous intensity of 3500mcd at 70mA with a viewing angle of 40 degrees making it ideal for brake and driving light applications. The 589nm yellow version produces a typical luminous intensity of 1,000mcd at 70mA with a wider viewing angle of 70 degrees making it ideal for signaling applications. The new blue 465nm super-flux LED is available with the widest viewing angle in the industry at 120 degrees making it an ideal source for backlighting, accent and legend applications. All four versions feature SAE/ECE & JIS approved colors and an operating temperature range of -40ºC ~ +85FºC.

"Having LEDs that already meet the strict color requirements of SAE/ECE & JIS makes the designers' job much easier.," said George Lee, President of American Bright Optoelectronics Corporation. "The addition of our new white lamp opens up the interior cabin lighting applications to solid state devices," he added.

The BLF series is available from stock and is priced from $0.21 in 10,000 piece production quantities for the red version. Samples are available to qualified OEM customers. The series is shipped in auto-insertion compatible plastic tubes.
