Wheel Speed Sensor offers low-gauss operation.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for use by automotive manufacturers, 1X Magnetoresistive Wheel-Speed Sensor senses multipole ring magnets found in smart bearings, offering industry-standard one pulse per pair. This 2-wire digital current output sensor incorporates one IC that provides digital output in response to very low magnetic fields. Unit interfaces with typical electronic control unit modules for antilock braking systems.

Honeywell Introduces the 1X Magnetoresistive Wheel-Speed Sensor

Low gauss operation works over larger sensing distances

FREEPORT, Ill., October 16, 2003 - Honeywell [NYSE: HON] Sensing and Control has introduced the 1X Magnetoresistive Wheel-Speed Sensor, a two-wire digital current output sensor for automotive manufacturers. The system easily interfaces with typical electronic control unit (ECU) modules for antilock braking systems (ABS).

The 1X MR sensor is designed to sense multipole ring magnets found in smart bearings, offering the industry-standard one pulse per pair. Its low-gauss operation works over large sensing distances. The 1X MR sensor operates at a wide spectrum of temperatures. This sensor's integrated circuit provides a digital output in response to very low magnetic fields. Though this signal is identical to digital Hall-effect sensors, it can be achieved by magnetoresistive sensors at much greater distances from the magnet. The 1X MR sensor operates across a wide spectrum of temperatures.
