VERNON HILLS, Ill.-May 12, 2003-For increased loading power and performance in construction, utility, government, sewer, waste and agricultural markets, Komatsu America Corp. (KAC) introduces the new WA250-5 wheel loader and WA250PT-5 tool carrier. Replacing the WA250-3MC and WA250PT-3MC respectively, these machines include significant technological enhancements for greater performance, operator comfort and serviceability.
Powered by a rugged Tier 2 compliant SAA6D102E Komatsu engine, the WA250-5 increases productivity while lowering engine speed (2,000 rpm), lowering emissions, and decreasing fuel consumption by more than 15 percent.
Increased Power and Performance
The WA250-5 incorporates an Advanced Technology Hydrostatic Transmission that allocates only as much power as is needed for a given application, making the WA250-5 a very powerful, efficient machine that responds quickly to varying conditions.
Improved Operator Comfort
Komatsu kept the operator in mind when designing the WA250-5, designing an operator-friendly cab, 5 percent larger than previous models, that provides more leg room and storage space. Further, the WA250-5 offers new grated and sloped entry steps and improved handrails, doors and platforms for easy access in and out of the machine. The pressurized cab reduces noise levels to a low 70db (A) and keeps dust and other particles from the cab's interior. The viscous damping mount system helps to minimize noise, shock and vibration in rough working conditions. For optimum comfort, the WA250-5 features a low effort, multi-function mono lever PPC hydraulic system with F/N/R control switch for smooth and easy directional changes.
Serviceability
Komatsu designed the WA250-5 to include its Equipment Management Monitoring System (EMMS) that keeps the operator aware of 22 machine functions and helps prevent costly breakdowns and failures before they happen. Conveniently located on the console in front of the operator, EMMS is just one of several maintenance and service features on the WA250-5 that include:
o Swing-out radiator fan
o Full side opening gull-wing engine doors for easy engine access
o Improved drive shaft seals for extended greasing intervals
o 500-hour oil and filter service intervals
o Sealed DT connectors resistant to dust and corrosion
o Requires fewer moving parts and service points
New Parallel Linkage Design for the WA250PT-5L
Tool carriers are purchased because they can perform a variety of tasks on a job site. The WA250PT-5 features the same advantages of the WA250-5, with the benefits of a parallel lift and hydraulically actuated quick coupler. The parallel lift boom on the WA250PT-5 allows the operator to carry loads susceptible to dumping or spilling by keeping the forks level throughout the boom's arc. Further, the WA250PT-5 features a quick coupler for easy changing of attachments, and a flat glass windshield for increased visibility.
