Wentworth Institute of Technology Laptop Program Expands with 1500 VectorWorks Licenses

Columbia, Maryland (September 7, 2006)- Nemetschek North America announced today that Wentworth Institute of Technology has added 400 new and 1100 upgrade copies of VectorWorks to its laptop program for the fall of 2006.

"VectorWorks is a program we've taught for a long time, and our upper-level students rely on the program," states Wentworth Institute of Technology's assistant professor of architecture, Michael MacPhail. "There is a type of 'VectorWorks' culture here on campus."

MacPhail continues, "During the last few years, this product has been developed extensively, adding many great capabilities. Many of my students like how intuitive the program is, how similar it is to drawing by hand. The fact that you can see the varying line weights is one of my favorite aspects of teaching VectorWorks."

Wentworth Institute of Technology chose VectorWorks as the CAD software for its laptop program in August, 2004. Wentworth's laptop program outfits students with laptops that have the necessary software already installed. The program recognizes the need to align students with contemporary office practices, provide a standard hardware platform for instruction, provide a standard software suite that is meaningfully integrated with curriculum needs, and facilitate mobility into the working environment.

"For the third year in a row, Wentworth is giving VectorWorks a significant role in its architectural program," states Michael Bendler, Nemetschek North America's educational program manager.

Founded in 1904, Wentworth Institute of Technology is an independent, co-educational, nationally-ranked institution offering career-focused education through 16 bachelor's degree programs in areas such as architecture, computer science, design, engineering, engineering technology, and management of technology. Wentworth's unique three-part experiential learning model combines class work, laboratory/studio work, and cooperative education to provide students with a hands-on approach to learning. Additionally, Wentworth is a member of the Colleges of the Fenway Consortium, one of Boston's largest academic collaborations.
