Welding Power Sources support remote control technology.

Press Release Summary:

Multiprocess welding power sources XMT® 350 CC/CV, XMT 450 CC/CV, and Dimension™ 650 support ArcReach™ remote control technology, which provides complete control of voltage at weld joint without cords to help improve productivity, quality, and safety. By utilizing ArcReach, operators can adjust and set voltage at point of use (weld joint). Included Auto-Bind™ features lets machine automatically selects correct welding process based on polarity. ArcReach Stick/TIG Remote is also available.

Miller Expands ArcReach(TM) Remote Control Technology to Additional Power Sources, Offers New Features to Simplify Ease of Use

By providing complete control of voltage at the weld joint – without the use of control cords — ArcReach technology helps improve productivity, quality and safety.

APPLETON, Wis. — Miller announced that it has expanded its ArcReach™ remote control technology to three additional machines for portable welding applications found in the construction, fabrication and shipbuilding markets: the XMT® 350 CC/CV, XMT 450 CC/CV and Dimension™ 650 multiprocess welding power sources.

ArcReach allows welding operators to adjust and set voltage at the point of use — the weld joint — without the use of control cords, reducing downtime and improving safety by reducing exposure to tripping hazards and lessening operator fatigue associated with walking to and from the power source. The technology also eliminates the need to settle for less-than-optimal welding parameters, which helps improve weld quality, and it increases productivity by providing for more time to weld.

In addition to gaining point-of-use control, these machines now include a new Auto-Bind™ feature as a component of the ArcReach technology. Auto-Bind automatically establishes exclusive communication between the power source and wire feeder, using the existing weld cables when the system powers up. There is no need to pull the trigger to establish the connection. The machine automatically selects the correct welding process based on polarity and indicates that polarity on the feeder, making setup easier for welding operators.

Miller is also offering a new ArcReach Stick/TIG Remote equipped with remote control technology that is compatible with all three machines. This remote allows welding operators to set the amperage for stick and TIG welding right at the weld joint, again eliminating unnecessary trips to the power source to adjust welding parameters. The remote also includes the Auto-Bind feature and includes settings for welding with American Welding Society (AWS) EXX10 and EXX18 series of stick electrodes, as well as offering the ability to air carbon arc gouge.

The XMT 350 CC/CV and XMT 450 CC/CV multiprocess welding power sources are capable of MIG, stick, TIG and flux-cored welding, along with air carbon arc cutting and gouging, and provide the flexibility of a 14-pin connection for spool guns, feeders and remote controls. The Dimension 650 power source offers the same multiprocess capabilities, with the control needed to weld thin materials and the capacity to handle 3/8-inch carbon arc gouging applications. It has been designed to provide an unbeatable combination of durability, output, efficiency and capability — all in a smaller, easier-to-handle package.
