A Helmet for All: Miller Introduces Two New Lines of Auto-Darkening Helmets

Developed for Hobbyist and Professional Welders
o New Price Points For All Budgets
o Improved Features
o Two New Designs Added

APPLETON, Wis., March 19, 2007-Miller Electric Mfg. Co. simplified the process of selecting and affording an auto-darkening welding helmet with the creation of its new Pro-Hobby(TM) Series and Performance Series(TM) line of helmets. The Performance Series replaces the previous Xli and Xlix helmet lines. The Pro-Hobby Series is a new entry-level line of helmets designed for the quality and budget conscious welding enthusiast.

Designed for professional and production welders who weld for extended periods nearly everyday, the Performance series helmets feature three arc sensors that darken the lens between shade #8-13 in 1/20,000 of a second. The Performance line also has Miller's Auto-On/Auto-Off feature, which activates the lens shade without having to manually turn the helmet on, and grind mode, which stops the lens from darkening while grinding.

New features to the Performance Series, not previously available on the Xli Series and Xlix Series, are the combined features of a magnifying lens holder and a quick release front lens cover. The Performance Series also adds two new helmet designs-Fire Storm(TM) and Motorsports(TM)-not available in either the Pro-Hobby or Elite(TM) lines.

Great Performance, Budget Priced
Designed for the light-duty welder who doesn't weld professionally but still appreciates high-quality welding equipment, the Pro-Hobby series offers many of the same features as the Performance and top-of-the-line Elite Series', including Miller's cutting edge graphics and headgear, but with a more affordable price tag.

"We wanted to create a line of helmets with full graphics at a new price point," explained Tom Sommers, product manager. "Our lowest priced helmet previously listed for $229. With the new Pro-Hobby Series, we've lowered that to $169 with full graphics, or $149 for black."

Both new lines of auto-darkening helmets introduce a magnifying lens holder and a fixed #3 shade lens, for better visibility between welds.

Still The Benchmark
Featuring 10 design options, four arc sensors and a 30 percent larger window than the Performance Series, Miller's industry leading Elite Series helmet line retains the name and features that made it the best auto-darkening helmet available.

Like the Performance Series, the Elite Series darkens between shade #8-13 in 1/20,000 of a second and comes standard with Auto-On/Auto-Off and Grind Mode.

Miller Auto-Darkening Helmets are covered by a two-year warranty.
