Welch's Selects ClearOrbit to Improve Supply Chain Efficiencies

Leading Consumer Products Company to Automate Inventory, Labor and Order Fulfillment Processes in 21 Facilities Nationwide

Austin, Texas - Oct. 23, 2006 - ClearOrbit ( www.clearorbit.com ), the leading provider of real-time supply chain execution and reverse logistics solutions, today announced that Welch's, a leading producer of juices, jams and jellies, will immediately deploy its Gemini mobile software solution for Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM). Welch's selected ClearOrbit to improve inventory accuracy, labor efficiency and order fulfillment processes across six company-owned and fifteen third-party production and warehousing locations nationwide.

Gemini for OPM will allow users at Welch's and third-party locations to use mobile RF scanners to record key transactions such as receiving, inventory movements, production batch operations, quality control and shipping directly on the shop floor. By capturing data immediately at the point of origin, the ClearOrbit solution dramatically reduces errors and increases data quality, while allowing improved supply chain operations and inventory management. Unlike other offerings that run off proprietary third-party databases or require custom interfaces, Gemini for OPM integrates directly to the Oracle data model, in real time, using standard Oracle API's (Application Program Interfaces). This approach fully leverages all of the setups, tolerances and profiles already defined in Welch's initial Oracle deployment, minimizing implementation, training, and ongoing support costs. More importantly, data accuracy and integrity are never compromised, providing the responsiveness and control Welch's requires for its high-velocity supply chain.

Welch's will concurrently implement ClearOrbit's Compliance Label Manager (CLM). CLM will enhance Welch's ability to manage barcode label format requests for pallet and case marking, driven by grocery and mass merchandiser customer requirements. CLM allows "distance printing" of compliance labels over the Web for in-house operations or third-party vendors, as well as the ability for locations to produce radio frequency identification (RFID) labels using rules-driven tagging formats.

"Welch's selected ClearOrbit because of its broad product set, seamless integration to Oracle, proven OPM track record and ability to deliver new capabilities as standard product," said Brad Jackson, Welch's business process owner for plan to produce. "By partnering with ClearOrbit, we will be able to achieve significant efficiency gains and improved operational control, while fully leveraging our investment in Oracle Process Manufacturing."

John Reece, ClearOrbit president and CEO, said, "Our experience in enabling manufacturing and distribution companies worldwide to improve process operations that directly impact bottom-line performance makes this partnership a perfect fit. We're excited for the opportunity to deliver to Welch's the operational efficiencies critical to their unique business needs by integrating the most robust, feature-rich mobile solution for OPM on the market."
