Original Press Release:

Elastocon Expands Rubber-Like TPE 8055 Series Line, Adding Two Weighted HD Grades for Straps, Cones, other Sports and Leisure Applications + Fishing Weight and Lure Products

ROCHESTER, IL – Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc., a strong contender in the thermoplastic elastomer marketplace with more than 5 complete lines of specialty TPEs for numerous applications, announces it has added two weighted HD (high density) grades to its rubber-like 8055 Series of TPEs.

Applications for this new weighted TPE grades include anywhere where natural rubber has been used in products where additional weight is required, including garbage disposal drain plugs, traffic cones, fishing products, straps and other sports and leisure products.  Other key applications range from flying sports discs to medical devices owing to its x-ray opaque capabilities.   A major benefit of this high specific gravity TPE is it price, starting at less than $2 a pound.

The new easily colorable additions to the 8055 Series of general purpose TPEs offer unique properties with a Shore A hardness of 55 (1.6 g/cc) and 65 (1.8.9 g/cc), depending on the grade selected.  They are weighed for applications where higher density performance and strength are required or desired in addition to considerable scratch and mar resistance.

Additional uses, note Elastocon officials, include sports and leisure products ranging from fitness and sports training devices and weights to straps and training device weights.  The new grades are also suited for use in weighted sports cones and markers plus fishing weights and lures.  Yet another range of uses can be in office products and appliances where durability and minimal movement are needed.

The two new grades round out the 8000 Series of TPEs that feature rubber-like properties, colorability and a good surface finish for a variety of medical, consumer and industrial applications.  They are available in small to large quantities from the firm’s mid-western production facilities.

Elastocon® offers high performance TPE solutions that are innovative and robust, designed to meet the toughest requirements of modern TPE designs.  They are offered in seven product families: unfilled, filled, super clear, TPOs, oil free for medical use, flame retardant and special colorable ESD formulations.
