Websense Combats Security Threats in Virtual Application Computing Environments

Helps Deliver User-Based Security and Filtering Policy Enforcement in Citrix Presentation Server Environments

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 6 /- Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBSN), a global leader in Web security and Web filtering productivity software, today announced software to help solution providers deliver Web security for their customers' Internet access via virtualized applications delivered by Citrix Presentation Server(TM).

Websense has integrated its latest software, Websense Enterprise® and Websense® Web Security Suite(TM) version 6.3, with Citrix Presentation Server versions 3 and 4 -- a leading virtualized application delivery solution. Virtualized applications, such as browsers, e-mail clients and productivity applications, need to access the Internet and require Web security and filtering solutions. This integration will enable solution providers to combine Websense Web security solutions with Citrix Presentation Server into a comprehensive service offering that effectively addresses their customers' application delivery and security requirements. By deploying Websense, IT managers can derive more value from their investments in Citrix Presentation Server through enhanced security and productivity, as well as the ability to meet compliance requirements.

Websense augments Citrix Presentation Server by protecting virtualized applications that are accessing the Internet from known and unknown threats such as spyware, malicious code, crimeware, phishing, bots and other fraud-based attacks that can compromise network resources. With Websense's market-leading Web security and filtering software, customers can set highly granular and flexible security and filtering policies for end-users within Citrix Presentation Server environments.

"This integration is great news for customers who can deploy Citrix Presentation Server with integrated policy-based Web security and filtering from Websense to provide secure access to business applications, consistent with corporate policy," said John Bryan, Director, Business Development, Citrix Systems. "Websense software complements Citrix Presentation Server and provides customers an additional layer of security and control when users access the Internet while using applications running on Presentation Server."

With the Websense integration, Citrix customers can also achieve greater visibility into end-user Internet activity through usage and performance-based reporting. Websense reporting tools help identify risks related to network security, legal liability, employee productivity and bandwidth loss. These capabilities offer real-time and historical views of Internet usage and provide organizations with the information they need to reduce the many risks associated with employee computing.

"Our customers are asking for policy-based Web security and filtering to manage Citrix users, and now we're able to deliver," said Allen Allison, Vice President, Information Security Practice, MTM Technologies. "This easy-to-bundle, easy-to-sell software solution is proof that Websense is listening to the needs of its channel partners and bringing to market the solutions we need to be successful."

"As a bank with more than 60 branches it makes sense to deploy applications through Citrix Presentation Server. We have around 700 end-users in different locations that get their desktop applications, e-mail access and Web browsers from our one data center through Citrix. We're now able to extend Web filtering and Web security to our branch locations through the Websense integration with Citrix," said Rusty Yates, senior systems administrator, Renasant Bank. "With Websense Enterprise 6.3 we limit our security risks and increase productivity while benefiting from the central distribution of applications throughout our network."

Websense Enterprise and Websense Web Security Suite version 6.3 are based on patented flexible filtering technology and the recently announced, patent-pending Websense ThreatSeeker(TM) technology. Websense ThreatSeeker scans more than 595 million Web sites every week to provide ongoing threat intelligence to Websense security software, allowing the software to block and protect customers from Web-based threats before they have a chance to steal business information and affect business productivity.
