Eaton Corporation Unveils eNotify 2.0 Remote Monitoring and Diagnostic Service for Powerware® Uninterruptible Power Systems

PITTSBURGH ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today the availability of eNotify 2.0, a Web-based remote monitoring and diagnostic service for Powerware® single-phase Series 9 and Powerware three-phase uninterruptible power systems (UPS). The eNotify service monitors the ongoing health of the UPS, while also monitoring the battery conditions to help prevent battery failure - the number one cause of load loss and downtime.

Available to all Eaton PowerTrust service plan customers, eNotify 2.0 provides real-time response 24 hours a day, seven days a week to more than 100 UPS and battery alarms, immediate notification of significant events via phone, e-mail or pager, and direct access to technical experts for remote troubleshooting and rapid problem resolution. As an upgraded service, eNotify now offers self-installation capabilities, improved user controls for reporting, notification escalations for multiple contacts and expanded international voltage and phase compatibility.

Monthly e-mail reports also detail system performance including unit voltages, loads, and external factors such as temperature and humidity, and capture event information and alarm history. The eNotify service uses a standard e-mail server connection and one-way (outbound only) e-mail to communicate daily heartbeat parametric or alarms as needed to Eaton's Customer Reliability Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Eaton's remote monitoring and diagnostic services help maximize system reliability and protect critical infrastructure equipment," said Art Mulligan, manager, Services Marketing, Eaton. "Monthly reporting also assists our customers in making proactive management decisions, such as scheduling preventive maintenance, planning for system upgrades and capacity expansion."

Powerware UPS products are designed for high efficiency and reliability, but batteries and other electrical components are subject to wear and eventual failure. By providing access to trained technicians during UPS and battery events, eNotify 2.0 reduces the risk of downtime and increases total system availability. Eaton has more than 1,000 field engineers, support specialists and technicians in North America with 24-hour access to factory design engineers during escalated emergencies. Technical resources can be dispatched immediately to resolve problems that could jeopardize critical operations.

"eNotify 2.0 offers information technology and facility personnel peace of mind that their systems are watched over by trained technicians that are standing by 24x7 to respond as needed to critical alarms," said Scott Kress, director of Sales and Marketing, Advent Power Protection Systems. "With eNotify, you can focus on other aspects of your business and not worry about the management and monitoring of UPS systems."

"Based on our research and customer meetings, extending Eaton's ability to remotely monitor its most popular single phase Powerware UPS models as well as making eNotify easy for customers to quickly install will be a big hit among busy IT managers looking for a complete power solution," said Mulligan.
