Cybertrust Unveils New Management Console for Security Management Program

Renamed Service Reiterates Commitment to Complete Security Solution for Ongoing Security Management

HERNDON, Va., March 15 / -- Cybertrust(R), the global information security specialist, today officially introduced Security Management Program (SMP), which includes a new management console and additional service features and enhancements. Previously known as Risk Management Program (RMP), Cybertrust's certification and assessment program was the first of its kind and has the largest customer base in the industry for ongoing security management.

The new management console in SMP allows customers to view the status of their compliance, vulnerability, tasks and overall risk posture, along with upcoming planned service activities. The detailed, actionable security data enables customers to identify and prioritize information security risks so they can make more informed and effective security management and resource allocation decisions.

"With thousands of vulnerabilities reported each year, determining those that represent a true risk is a challenge facing businesses today," said Counse Broders, research director at Current Analysis. "By leveraging in-place assets to comply with security requirements, minimize threat exposure and reduce security management costs, proactive security management is a valuable tool in helping companies to conduct business operations confidently and securely."

SMP is a programmatic approach to security management that reduces an organization's security risk, improves the overall security posture, enables an organization to demonstrate efforts to meet compliance requirements, and leverages an organization's existing investments in people, processes, and technologies. SMP provides organizations with a foundation from which to develop a security program that will effectively mitigate real risks to their corporate computing environments. Moreover, SMP assists customers in protecting their critical systems and information from hackers, viruses and other security threats.

The management console provides additional assurance to SMP customers of the status of their information security profile. The centralized, Web-based management console integrates asset and vulnerability data, security management tasks and workflow processes into a single interface, enabling customers to more effectively manage their security and compliance efforts across the enterprise. Security efforts are seamlessly integrated into one coordinated, replicable process.

"Cybertrust's SMP allows organizations to proactively assess and plan around their greatest security priorities, such as balancing IT risks with operational risks, achieving and demonstrating compliance, and controlling security costs," said Kerry Bailey, Cybertrust senior vice president global services. "With the addition of SMP's management console, customers can easily review their entire organization's security risk posture and communicate their status to shareholders, management, and auditors."
