Wavin Reduces Costs at Multiple Manufacturing Sites with Quintiq Scheduler

's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands - Wavin, Europe's leading supplier of plastic pipe systems and solutions has chosen Quintiq Scheduler for ten of its manufacturing sites. Quintiq Scheduler will support the short-term planning of Wavin's injection molding, extrusion and kiln firing production processes.

Low cost improves competitiveness

Wavin provides plastic piping solutions for hot and cold tap water, surface heating and cooling, soil and waste, rainwater management and last mile telecom.

Wavin decided to implement an integrated scheduling solution to lower its operational costs and thus gain a competitive advantage. After a detailed selection process in which the competing vendors had to prove their capabilities by demonstrating detailed business scenarios and requirements, Wavin chose Quintiq Scheduler because of the software's advanced technology.

Integrating with SAP for better scheduling

The Quintiq solution will integrate with SAP business management software, the backbone of Wavin's IT landscape. Quintiq will optimize machine sequences to improve the flow of materials and will provide transparency into production processes so managers can easily see dependencies between departments. As a result, Wavin will be able to reduce inventory levels and the amount of work-in-progress, while also reducing overtime costs.

Quintiq will also improve delivery performance by ensuring the right product is produced
at the right time. Also, by better scheduling crews and machine set-ups, Wavin will be
able to decrease its overtime expenditures.

"We chose Quintiq first and foremost because of the software's high-end technology," commented Willem Kruijer, Corporate Director IT at Wavin. "Other important factors in our decision were the software's ability to connect to our SAP landscape, the Quintiq team's excellent responsiveness in the sales phase and the flexibility of the software."

Francois Eijgelshoven, Business Unit Director at Quintiq, added: "With advanced planning solutions, companies like Wavin can lower operational costs while improving delivery performance. This translates into better customer service, lower prices and, most importantly, a significant competitive advantage. Wavin's choice of Quintiq proves again the flexibility of Quintiq solutions to cater to different industries."
