WaveMarket's Client-Side Alerts Technology Enables Carriers to Launch Geofences without Additional Cost

EMERYVILLE, Calif., Feb. 27 / -- WaveMarket Inc., leaders in the family location space since the company first launched alerts and Geofencing in 2004 with SK Telecom in Korea, announced today that its most recent deployment further validates WaveMarket's technical advantages in client-side alerting. Late last year, Vivo launched WaveMarket-powered Vivo Localiza Familia family location service and recent tests have shown that the advanced client-side alert technology incorporated in that deployment enabled the operator to add customer value without adding infrastructure costs. WaveMarket's client-side alerting technology, WaveAlert, uses sophisticated algorithms to minimize the load on the carrier network. Deployments that do not use WaveMarket's technology often require carriers to double the price of the service to end-users due to the increased cost to the carrier network when supporting Geofences. Vivo's family location product however, which is powered by WaveMarket's patent-pending WaveAlert technology, includes Geofences for no additional cost. Geofences allow users to be notified whenever an asset enters or leaves a specific geographic area. Additionally, Nokia has selected WaveMarket as the OEM partner to deliver the WaveAlert Geofencing platform to Nokia location infrastructure products.

Vivo's Localiza Familia is available on more than a dozen different phone models today and is on track to support two dozen next month, ensuring wide consumer availability. Dr. Scott Hotes, WaveMarket's Chief Technology Officer, explained the WaveMarket client-side alerting advantage: "In our tests across multiple live deployments on different carrier networks, the multi-tier optimization algorithms built into our WaveAlert engine have reduced network infrastructure costs by 80% and extended battery life by 400% when compared to conventional client-side alerting methods used by other LBS companies. This technology, which we first deployed to a carrier network almost three years ago, is a key technical advantage for WaveMarket and one we continue to invest in, keeping us years ahead of the competition."
