The Model 4071 offers a number of operating modes, providing a versatile, cost-effective signal source. Priced at $1,795, the Model 4071 is ideal for use by engineers, technicians, circuit designers and scientists in a wide variety of applications including communications, audio, video, power systems and consumer electronics.

Being a true 12 bit arbitrary generator, the Model 4071 is stable, accurate and drift free. The instrument offers an extensive list of operating modes. Linear/Log Sweep, AM, FM, PM, SSB, BPSK, FSK, Burst, DTMF Generation, DTMF Detection and Power Level Measurement are all included in the basic unit.
Outstanding features include an RS-232 interface, full size numeric keypad and encoder which provide direct editing of each parameter without confusing submenus, and a large, easy-to-read illuminated LCD display that allows the user to see all modulation parameters simultaneously.
The Model 4071 generates every data point independently of the repetition rate instead of a simple look-up table, which significantly reduces phase shift, and jitter found in competing synthesized signal generators. The RS-232 interface allows the user to design custom waveforms on a PC, or download from a number of sources, spread sheet, oscilloscope, or application program. The Arbitrary Waveform generator has been designed for ease of use and will parse a multitude of data formats during a waveform download. Any type of computer with a serial port can be used and software is provided. Waveforms may have up to 32,768 points and be clocked from 0HZ to 40 MHz, adjustable in .01 Hz steps.
The Function Generator feature allows the user to generate many popular function waveforms at repetition rates up to 2 MHz. The Pulse Generator permits the precise adjustment of the duty cycle and amplitude of a pulse waveform to repetition rates of up to 2 MHz. A TTL/CMOS compatible output, which matches the main analog output, is simultaneously provided in Pulse Generator mode for driving digital circuitry directly.
Because the Model 4071 utilizes Flash memory to hold its operating software, the unit is field upgradable. New and custom code versions of software can be downloaded over the Internet or obtained by floppy disk.
