Watlow® Flange Heaters Comply with ASME's Revised Section IV Requirements

Watlow®, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of complete thermal systems, announced that it recently received a Certificate of Conformance from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) designating that its flange heaters meet the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section IV revised requirements, and can apply the H stamp to its flange heater assemblies.

Recently, the ASME revised its BPVC, Section IV, Rules for the Construction of Heating Boilers, requirements for boilers, including commercial boilers, industrial boilers, heating boilers and low pressure boilers. Boilers in which steam or other vapor is generated at pressures not exceeding 15 psig, and high temperature water boilers intended for operation at pressures not exceeding 160 psig and/or temperatures exceeding 250°F now require heaters from suppliers that are certified.

Watlows compliance with ASMEs recent Section IV revised requirements confirms our commitment to safety, said Bob Moore, Watlows director of product management. Our team works closely with The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors to ensure our products are designed and produced to the agencys strict specifications, assuring the best possible solution for our customers.

Watlows ASME certified flange heaters have long immersed length capability to help reduce costs by keeping the pipe and flange sizes to the smallest possible design size. This product is available with a variety of heating elements and flange materials (including square flanges) to meet specific requirements, and eyebolt holes or lift lugs are drilled and tapped to facilitate lifting for large units into the vessel.

Typical applications include boilers, high temperature water boilers and steam generators.
