Wastewater Treatment System targets oil and gas industry.

Press Release Summary:

Used in oil recovery projects, Once-Through Flash™ technology recycles thermal heat produced by Once-through Steam Generators. Recycled heat is then used to convert produced water into clean water with high purity. OTF yields water recycle rates of more than 95%, thus achieving compliance with Alberta Energy Regulator’s Directive 081 that sets water disposal limits and includes detailed reporting requirements for thermal in situ oil sands operations.

Aquatech Showcases Once-Through Flash Process at Global Petroleum Show

CALGARY, Canada, – Aquatech, a global leader in water and wastewater technologies for the industrial & infrastructure markets, will highlight its Once-Through Flash™ (OTF) technology at the Global Petroleum Show (Booth 7007, Halls D,E), which takes place June 9-11 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

OTF is an innovative process used in enhanced oil recovery projects where it is designed to recycle the thermal heat produced by Once-through Steam Generators (OTSGs) that are used extensively in the Alberta Oil Sands market. This recycled heat is then used to convert produced water into clean water with high purity.

“Based on the proven and robust Vertical-Tube Falling Film design principles, the OTF technology reduces power consumption by 20-40 percent, lowering OPEX. In addition, it features a simpler process configuration than conventional designs and is able to deliver a substantial capital cost savings that can reduce CAPEX by more than 10 percent,” stated Greg Mandigo, Applications Engineering Manager, Upstream Oil & Gas, Aquatech.

OTF also yields water recycle rates of more than 95 percent, thus achieving compliance with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s Directive 081 that sets water disposal limits and includes detailed reporting requirements for thermal in situ oil sands operations. OTSGs typically allow recovery rates between 80-90 percent.

“Once-Through Flash is Aquatech’s latest advancement in wastewater treatment technologies for the oil and gas industry, and we see high potential for its application in the Alberta Oil Sands market. This process adds on to our portfolio of technology solutions including SmartMOD™ Modularized Evaporation System, HEVAP™ High Efficiency Evaporation, and 2-Step Brine Neutralization,” said Alan R. Daza, P.Eng., Vice President – Upstream Oil & Gas, Aquatech.
