Washington State Ferries Onboard with 'Last Call'

EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 17, 2007 -- Washington State Ferries - the largest ferry system in the United States - has purchased the Last Call Marine system for use in every wheelhouse of their operational fleet.

Last Call was developed and is manufactured by S.H. Systems of Everett, Washington. "Like everyone else who's spent time in a wheelhouse," says Scott Sucke, owner of SH Systems, "I'd get annoyed occasionally over lost or garbled radio transmissions. And one day, I said to myself, 'Wouldn't it be great just to push a button and hear that again?'"

The patent-pending Last Call Marine system records up to sixty seconds of the last transmission received, then amplifies and repeats the message with, yes, the push of a button. The unit simply plugs into the external speaker jack of most any VHF radio, and runs on 12-volt DC power. Even if the unit is powered off, Last Call Marine will save the last received message while still allowing the radio to be monitored.

The unit can also be used to save a single message for emergency or legal reasons. "We're proud of our association with the Washington State Ferries, and their vote of confidence in Last Call," says Scott. "Things can get busy at any moment on the bridge, so for the Skipper to be able to hear that last word exactly ... just makes it safer and easier for everybody ... a lot fewer 'Say Again' calls."
