Evans Enterprises First to Carry Emerson Motor Technologies' New Paint Free Washdown Motor Line

New stainless motors ideal for food, beverage or chemical processing plants

St. Louis, Mo., June 26, 2002 - Oklahoma-based Evans Enterprises Inc. has become one of Emerson Motor Technologies' first distributors to offer its new line of paint free washdown motors. The paint free motors resist moisture and are safe for use in plants where food, beverage or chemical processing occurs.

With 10 branches in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, Evans Enterprises is one of the leading distributors of paint free motors to the poultry industry. To ensure that customers' needs for the motors are met, Evans Enterprises has stocked a full range of the Emerson Motor Technologies' U.S. Motors brand paint free washdown motors at its Rogers, Arkansas plant.

The motors are offered in 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/2 and 2 HP. All operate at 1725 RPM on 208-230/460 VAC power. The 1/2 through 1 HP are offered in NEMA 56 HC frames, with the 1 through 2 HP ratings offered as 145TC frames. All ratings are equipped with both NEMA C-Face and a Rigid Base.

"Evans Enterprises has been a distributor of U.S. Motors brand products from Emerson Motor Technologies for more than 20 years. The company has really been instrumental more recently in getting our new paint free washdown motor line out to the poultry industry, where use of that type of motor has been mandated under the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)," said Roger Abbott, Emerson Motor Technologies sales manager. "With the stainless motor design, there is no risk of paint chips flaking off the motor and into the food being processed. Additionally, our stainless washdown motor is rust- and corrosion-resistant and has a smooth frame so it resists trapping food particles that could lead to foodborne illnesses."

The new line of paint free motors is not only designed to resist water entry, but also to drain condensation, which can lead to motor failure. The line boasts the following features to deter moisture:

- "VBX" INPRO/SEAL®- Shaft Seal - Prevents water from entering the motor through the shaft from the high-pressure washdown spray. It is a non-friction seal with extensive operating life.
- "T" - Drains - Allow condensation to drain from any mounted position without having to remove or rotate any drain plugs. In addition, "T" - Drains reduce the amount of water that enters through the drain vs. the industry standard screw-type drain.
- Nitrile Conduit Box Gasket (patent pending) with Lead Exit Hole Loctite® Sealed - Allows the conduit box to be rotated 180 degrees without breaking the Loctite seal. The seal prevents water from entering the motor through the conduit box.
- 100 percent Solids Insulation Material - Provides superior moisture resistance to ensure consistent electrical strength.
- Double Sealed Ball Bearings with Moisture Resistant Grease - Reduces bearing failure due to moisture and contaminants.

"We were quite impressed with Emerson Motor Technologies' new paint free motor line and we wanted to be able to offer our customers one of the best products available," said Dan Stewart of Evans Enterprises. "We have also taken care to adequately stock the motors to serve the immense poultry industry in the areas we serve. We also have a staff experienced in the poultry industry that can help customers select the right motor for an application and answer any questions they may have."
