SOUTH BELOIT, Ill., Dec. 2001 -To protect against food particles, chemicals, water and other contaminants, Warner Electric introduces the new Enclosed UniModule Clutch/Brake Washdown Series (EUM-W). The completely-sealed, corrosion-resistant EUM-W is ideal for food and beverage, chemical and other applications that involve high-pressure sprayers or caustic materials.

The EUM-W provides design flexibility with five available frame sizes (NEMA 50 to 215), three voltages (6, 24 and 90 V) and a static torque capacity of 16-lb. ft. to 95-lb. ft. In addition, the EUM-W is both USDA approved and Baking Industry Sanitation Standards Committee (BISSC) certified.

"These pre-assembled clutch/brakes are ideal for machinery that use an electric motor and need a controlled stop, such as conveyor belts and auger fillers," said Don Friday, product manager, Warner Electric. "And because the Washdown UniModule Series is pre-assembled, pre-aligned and pre-burnished at the factory for rated torque, it's ready for installation right out of the box."

Completely enclosed, the EUM-W is coated with USDA-certified, white epoxy paint. This nontoxic paint is impervious to caustic chemicals and frequent washdowns and is extremely resistant to chipping and corrosion. In addition, the enclosure meets IP65 standards, the shafting is stainless steel and all bearings are sealed and shielded from the external environment.

All Warner Electric UniModule products, including the EUM-W, feature a NEMA C-face compatible design, heavy duty bearings for tight concentricity and running efficiency, fan cooling for long life and consistent performance, easy set screw access and a finned design for maximum heat dissipation.
