Rockwell Automation Introduces New Reliance® SP600 Washdown AC Drive
GREENVILLE, S.C. (July21, 2003) Strengthening their position as a leader in the variable speed drives marketplace, Rockwell Automation is introducing a new Reliance SP600 AC drive in a NEMA 4X/12 and IEC IP66 enclosure. This compact, full-featured drive is now offered in a tamper-proof and dust-tight enclosure designed specifically for the harsh environments and washdown conditions of the food and beverage industry.
This washdown SP600 drive can withstand a direct spray of water pressure up to 1,000 psi and protects against dust particles as small as 75 microns, making it ideal for environments where the drive is subjected to caustic sprays or fine particles in the air. These capabilities, certified by the National Sanitation Foundation, combine with the standard features of the SP600 drive to provide food and beverage industry users with a powerful, flexible drive that is easy to operate and designed for their specific application requirements.
To simplify the user's interaction with the product, the SP600 drive has a built-in keypad with a LCD graphic display. Even in harsh environments, local configuration, control, and monitoring are possible, because the washdown drive has a totally sealed Operator Interface Module (OIM). The icon-based menu selection interface provides for intuitive setup and easy operation through a multi-line display that offers prompts in a choice of six languages.
For greater ease-of-use, function keys on the SP600 drive are programmable for user-assigned operations, providing hotkey functionality for drive configuration, setup, and process operation. In addition, a QuickStart configuration program walks users through setup, step-by-step. For users who prefer setup from their computer, VS Utilities PC software is available to configure parameters or monitor the SP600 drive.
Optimizing flexibility, the SP600 allows users to review parameters in factory-defined groups, in numerical order, or by those that have changed from factory-defined values. Monitoring is customized, with information reported on the OIM in terms of output frequency, motor amps, speed, or voltage, or in operator-defined terms, such as gallons-per-minute, cans-per-hour, or bagels-per-minute. Units and text are defined by the user.
SP600 drives are equipped with snubber (dynamic) braking, DC injection braking, and a built-in 7th transistor for controlling fast deceleration and high inertia loads. The optional drive-mounted resistor kit is ideally suited for controlling low inertia loads. It also installs easily and saves space. An optional remote-mount resistor is available for high inertia loads and cycle applications.
Reliance Washdown SP600 AC drives are offered with a 240 VAC drive rating from 0.5 to 10 HP and with 480 and 575 VAC ratings from 0.5 to 20 HP. Each drive is software selectable for either volts/hertz or sensorless vector control, with a controllable speed range of up to 80:1. Available network options include ControlNet(TM), DeviceNet(TM), ProfiBus(TM), InterBus-S(TM), RS485 Modbus(TM), RS485 DFI, and EtherNet/IP(TM).
