LIS Enhances Dispatcher-WMS with Real-Time Alerting Technology

Increased functionality leads to fewer mistakes, improved customer service

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 19, 2002) - LIS, a global provider of supply chain execution solutions, has released the latest version of its market-leading warehouse management system, Dispatcher-WMS. New alerting and event management functionality are among the release's significant enhancements.

"The warehouse manager must be constantly aware of everything going on in the warehouse and beyond delivery, but one person can only do so much," said Bob Carver, vice president of sales and marketing for LIS. "The enhancements to Dispatcher-WMS make this undertaking easier to accomplish and provide peace of mind."

The new alerting capability notifies the user when specific events happen or when expected events do not occur as planned, so that swift action can be taken. In addition, alerts can be sent to other systems within the business, making possible the automatic resolution of logistics problems without human intervention.

The user can specify which alerts he wants to receive, ensuring that only useful information is conveyed, as well as how the alerts should be delivered, whether by pager, cell phone, e-mail or browser.

"Dispatcher-WMS has been around since 1985, but it remains the system of choice because LIS has continuously developed it to reflect changing needs and new technologies," said Carver.

Additional Enhancements

- Supplier Collaboration - Advanced scheduling capabilities allow
trusted suppliers to log onto the Web-enabled system to modify bookings, provide shipment details and manage their own inventory. Because the receiving staff can see when regular
suppliers are due to deliver, less scheduling administration is
needed.

- Supplier Performance Measurement - An evaluation screen pops up
after each delivery so users can measure and report on supplier performance. Consistent monitoring provides valuable insight for
evaluating delivery accuracy and missed appointments.

- Ease of Technology Integration - A new Interface Painter allows
the mapping of data from host and other systems to Dispatcher-
WMS, simplifying the integration of new customer host systems and
reducing the time and risk involved in implementation.
