Walter USA's Grooving Inserts provide more stable grooving operations.

Press Release Summary:

Walter USA's Walter Cut GX34 double-edged grooving and parting inserts offer improvements in several areas. The inserts are clamped with screws which provide more stable grooving operations. They also offer an extra-long length of 1.34 in., making them ideal for large diameter workpieces and turret style machines. The inserts can be used in monoblock tools as well as grooving tools with a reinforced blade, and are especially suited for deep grooves and large tool projections.

Original Press Release:

The new Walter Cut GX34 double-edged grooving and parting inserts deliver improved surface quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness

The GX34 grooving inserts provide significantly more stable grooving operations than single-edged, self-clamping solutions.

Waukesha, WI—Walter has introduced the Walter Cut GX34, double-edged grooving inserts, specifically for deep grooving and parting off up to a diameter of 2.56 in. (65 mm). These inserts can be used in monoblock tools as well as grooving tools with a reinforced blade and are especially suited for deep grooves and large tool projections.

The GX34 grooving inserts are clamped with screws, leading to significantly more stable grooving operations than single-edged, self-clamping solutions. In addition to their superior cutting depths, the price per cutting edge is significantly reduced compared to single-edged systems.

Extra-long length of 1.34 in. (34 mm) and widths of 0.118-0.158 in. (3–4 mm) make these inserts ideal for larger diameter workpieces and turret style machines. Larger corner radii of 0.012 and 0.16 in (0.3 and 0.4mm) also lend more stability and higher tool life. Longer length of the insert and a v-shaped insert guide in the insert pocket of the holder lead to excellent parallelism and a very stable clamping.

Integrated Walter precision cooling ensures high process reliability and short set-up times as there is no need to align the cooling nozzles. Precision cooling targets both rake and flank faces, leading to significantly improved tool life. Users can choose between three different chip formation geometries: CF5 for low to moderate feeds, GD6 for moderate feeds and CE4 for moderate to high feeds.

Walter, a global leader in the metalworking industry with over 90 years of experience in precision cutting tools for milling, drilling, turning, boring and specialized tools, helps customers improve process reliability and increase productivity. With Regional Headquarters in Waukesha, WI, Walter markets its competence brands Walter Valenite, Walter Titex, Walter Prototyp and Walter Multiply through a strong network of distributors and field engineers across subsidiaries in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
