Versatility and Protection Featured in Hoffman's New Double-hinged ProTek(TM) DH Cabinet

New Wall-mount Unit Protects Network Equipment From Harmful Contaminants

June 20, 2006 - Hoffman's popular ProTek(TM) Type 12/4 Wall-mount Cabinets are now available in double-hinged models with a three-part design for easier front and rear equipment access. The versatile ProTek DH Cabinet is ideal for applications outside of control areas to protect network equipment from falling dirt, splashing water, dust and other contaminants that can damage or even ruin critical components.

"We're responding to industry trends by offering an innovative product that not only provides versatility, protection, increased security and easy equipment access but also has a sleek appearance and aesthetics," said Brian Mordick, RCDD, Hoffman's senior product manager for DataCom. "Also, when designing the cabinet, we kept our customers' cost and time constraints in mind to ensure that the cabinet would be easy to install, monitor, inspect and adjust, as well as provide network upgrade flexibility."

The new, double-hinged ProTek DH Cabinet, UL 508 listed Type 12 or Type 4, is available in a variety of models, comes completely assembled and is ready to mount to a wall or to a pole using an optional pole mounting kit. Designed to hold multiple pieces of 19-inch network equipment comfortably, it can be left or right hinge mounted. The unique latching design features no external side latches and requires no unlatching clearance, enabling the cabinet to be mounted latchside tightly against the wall to save space.

"The new cabinets feature enhanced security with either a locking wing knob, which is convenient for indoor applications, or a tamper-resistant, quarter-turn padlock latch to provide easy operation and locking options in indoor or outdoor applications," said Mordick.

Type 4 models are available with a solid door for complete physical and visual protection. Type 12 models are available with a solid door or a window door, made with scratch-resistant safety glass, to allow equipment monitoring without opening the door to minimize contamination. Each cabinet also includes one set of EIA spaced 10-32 tapped rack angles, which are adjustable front to back within the center section of the cabinet.

A flange around each door opening creates a gutter that prevents fluids from entering the cabinet and diverts contaminants. The foam-in-place, seamless gasket around each door is non-absorbing and chemical-resistant and seals against outdoor air infiltration.
