Wacom Delivers Signature Capture to Major EMR System

VANCOUVER, Wash., -- Today, Wacom is pleased to announce that it has written a signature capture interface to an API (Application Programming Interface) released by Epic, a leading provider of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) that supports patient care, including registration and scheduling. Epic's API provides customers with a choice in signature products and is instrumental in helping medical professionals find the best product for their particular needs.
Wacom's Signature Pads are designed to capture an electronic signature, replacing the need for a signature on paper. The pads help lower costs and eliminate the inefficiencies associated with paper documentation, such as printing, copying, storing and internal/external sharing. Wacom signature pads deliver outstanding longevity with patented pen technology and they never need batteries or a cord to carry an electronic signal. Since no electronic signals are passed through the Wacom pen tether, pen operation cannot be affected by damage to the tether. In addition, Wacom pen technology, unlike resistive technologies, is not impacted by wear or scratches to the screen surface.
The component for Epic's API is available now, free-of-charge, to customers who want to use Wacom's STU family of signature pads to capture electronic handwritten signatures within the EMR.
