WAC Lighting's Sol Organic LED Chandelier Named 2011 Best of the Year Honoree by Interior Design Magazine
Garden City, New York - Adding to its long list of honors this year, WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald announced that the Sol(TM) Organic LED Chandelier has been named 2011 Best of the Year Award Honoree by Interior Design magazine. Interior Design's Best of Year Awards is the preeminent design competition recognizing superior interior design projects and products in more than 50 categories.
Sol has made its commercial debut in 20 lighting galleries across North America this fall. Sculpturally representative of ancient symbols for the sun, each eco-friendly chandelier is hand-signed and numbered.
Sol(TM) utilizes Orbeos OLED (Organic LEDs) panels from Osram Opto Semiconductors and delivers 420 lumens. Seven remarkably thin (2.1 millimeters) OLED panels employ the world's most revolutionary nanotechnology.
Each panel distributes white light with optimal color rendering (CRI 80) and a color temperature of 3900K.
The chandelier offers adjustable light distribution for ambient mood lighting, free of undesirable shadows or glare. Each reversible OLED panel is completely cool to the touch, inviting consumers to experience this new technology. Circular satellite OLED panels rotate up for indirect lighting, and tilt down to comfortably illuminate the surface below or faces around a table while the central downlight provides directional lighting. The OLED panels do not require the use of any additional lenses or reflectors to diffuse the light, which traditionally result in a 10 to 40 percent loss in efficiency.
Sol(TM) is inherently sustainable, designed around energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology in the company's wholly owned, Clean ISO 9001/14001-certified manufacturing campus with in-house U.L. certified testing labs. The chandelier is crafted of aluminum and finished in black nickel, without the use of heavy metals or other rare-earth materials commonly used in other energy-efficient sources.
Sol(TM) has a diameter of 18.5 inches, a height of 2.2 inches, with an overall height ranging from 12.25 to 40 inches tall, with a supporting metal rod.
