Enersys Expands Line of VRLA Batteries for High Rate Discharge Applications with New 6-Volt Battery

Reading, PA, December 2003 - EnerSys Inc. Reserve Power Group has expanded its DataSafe NPX line of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries with the addition of the NPX 35-6 battery for high rate discharge applications, which require high power for short intervals. The new NPX 35-6, which provides 30% more power than conventional batteries with an equivalent footprint and voltage, was specifically designed to meet the high energy needs of a wide range of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and general electronics applications.

The new 6-volt battery, which meets critical industry standards including UL approval, IATA certification for air transport, and US DOT classification for non-spillable batteries, can be operated in any position without leakage for complete flexibility during installation and use. Multiple terminal options offer additional flexibility to meet a variety of customer needs. The battery's sealed construction eliminates watering requirements to reduce maintenance and costs, making the NPX 35-6 extremely cost-effective.

The NPX 35-6's standard housing is a rugged ABS resin, with an optional UL-recognized VO flame retardant ABS housing available. The new battery has a capacity of 35 watts/cell at a 15-minute discharge rate to 1.67 Vpc; a design life of three to five years at 25°C (77°F); and measures 151.0 mm (5.95") long x 64.0 mm wide (1.33") x 97.5 mm (3.84") high including the terminals. Like the other batteries in the series, the NPX 35-6 will retain up to 85% of its charge after 6 months of storage at 20°C (68°F).

Pricing for the new DataSafe NPX 35-6 starts at $22. Additional information is available online at www.enersysreservepower.com or by contacting an EnerSys distributor (www.enersysreservepower.com/sales.asp). Delivery is 1 week ARO.
