Vortex Improves Clear Action Slide Gate
SALINA, KAN., USA — Vortex's self-cleaning Clear Action Gate has been a reliable valve to handle powders, granular, or pellets in gravity flow or pneumatic conveying systems since its original release thirty years ago. Mounted horizontally, the machined square-edged blade mechanically clears the material from the sealing surfaces on each closing cycle allowing it to discharge beneath the valve. The square blade and seal design eliminates the open cavities where material collects in traditional gate valves.
The most notable improvement made to the Vortex Clear Action Gate, is the ability to seal the valve's body. This added feature is essential to prevent material leakage into the atmosphere. In addition, the slide gate's air purge was updated to greater reduce material migration from material flow to valve body. In addition to all the improvements made to the Clear Action Gate, the valve is now more maintenance friendly while in the field. Shims can now be removed or added while the valve is in-line giving customers more flexibility than before.
The Vortex Clear Action Gate can be used in many applications and is still the ideal slide gate to be placed above an airlock rotary valve. Like on all product lines, Vortex offers a wide variety of modifications to accommodate a range of temperatures, metering, and material contact options. Contact Vortex for standard and custom sizes.
