Blade Solution Brings Greater Application Performance and Reduced Power Consumption Benefits of InfiniBand to Midmarket Customers, Remote Locations and Branch Offices
BILLERICA, Mass. and HERZELIYA, Israel - September 12, 2007 - Voltaire Ltd. (NASDAQ: VOLT), a leading provider of grid backbone solutions, today announced that its InfiniBand solutions are available for the new HP BladeSystem c3000 enclosure.
The powerful combination of Voltaire's software and InfiniBand switching capabilities bring high performance and manageability to HP's newest blade chassis, which was designed specifically to meet the needs of small IT sites including midsize customers and those with remote locations and branch offices. The HP BladeSystem c3000 enables customers to reap the power and cooling and cost benefits of a fully bladed solution while also gaining the performance, management and virtualization capabilities available through InfiniBand.
"Voltaire's multi-service switches and InfiniBand fabric management software in combination with the new HP BladeSystem c3000 provides customers with small IT sites with a high-performance, integrated interconnect to accelerate applications without the need for a data center," said Patrick Guay, senior vice president, marketing at Voltaire. "With the c3000, midsize customers can benefit from a high performance yet easy-to-manage network that requires less power, minimal IT staff and a small amount of floor or data center space"
The HP BladeSystem c3000 uses Voltaire GridStack(TM) software to enable applications to utilize the exceptional performance of RDMA that is inherent in InfiniBand hardware. The system also uses Voltaire's GridVision BladeFM(TM) software, which provides a comprehensive set of tools and utilities that simplify common tasks related to the configuration, management and monitoring of InfiniBand fabrics. The software enables a consolidated and managed bladed configuration without the need for external InfiniBand switches or hosts. Voltaire's InfiniBand solutions are already available for the HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosure and are an option in the HP Cluster Platform configurations for high performance computing clusters based on HP BladeSystem c-Class systems.
"InfiniBand adoption continues to grow due to its application acceleration and virtualization capabilities," said Mark Potter, vice president, BladeSystem Division, HP. "By including InfiniBand from Voltaire in our new BladeSystem c3000, midsize customers will benefit from a powerful bladed interconnect that drives application performance, is easy to manage and is right-sized for their business."
