Fairchild Semiconductor Announces Industry's Only Single-Bit Bi-Directional Voltage Translator with Guaranteed Performance Down to 1.1V

SAN JOSE, Calif.-July 26, 2007-Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS) announces the FXLH1T45 , the industry's only single-bit bi-directional voltage translator with guaranteed operation from 1.1V to 3.6V, providing ease of design for ultra-portable, computing, communication and industrial applications. This single-bit bi-directional translator seamlessly interfaces processors to electronic subsystems operating at different voltage levels by providing both uni-directional and bi-directional translation between a variety of voltage levels. Its 1.1V operation makes the FXLH1T45 ideal for the low-power requirements of ultra-portable applications.

To conserve space and increase system reliability, the FXLH1T45 is available in Fairchild's ultra-compact (1.0mm x 1.45mm) 6-terminal MicroPak(TM) package, saving 65 percent more board space than translators in SC70 packages. The MicroPak package's large 0.2mm x 0.3mm land grid array (LGA) contact pads assure strong joint integrity essential for reliable operation under harsh environmental stressors, such as excessive jarring or stresses due to impact.

The FXLH1T45 provides the added benefit of being fully configurable for maximum design flexibility. The A port tracks the level of the VCCA supply and the B port tracks the level of the VCCB supply. Both supplies are independent, allowing the user to select the translation levels and set the high side or low side as desired. In addition to the rugged and compact packaging, the FXLH1T45's bushold on the data outputs eliminates the need for external pull-up or pull-down resistors, further saving board space.

Key advantages of the FXLH1T45 include:

Simplified design and design flexibility:
o Bi-directional interface between any two levels from 1.1V to 3.6V.
o Fully configurable: Inputs track VCC level.
Minimal board space requirements:
o Bushold on outputs eliminates the need for external pull-up/pull-down resistors.
o Ultra-compact MicroPak 6 package.

Fairchild Semiconductor's broad portfolio of voltage translators offers designers a range of device options to better optimize their specific applications. For more information about these products, please go to Fairchild's logic-level translator web page at fairchildsemi.com/logictranslator.

The FXLH1T45 utilizes lead-free (Pb-free) terminals and has been characterized for moisture sensitivity in accordance with the Pb-free reflow requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020. All Fairchild products are designed to meet the requirements of the European Union Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances (RoHS).
