Family of Precision, 15ppm/C Voltage References from TI Offers Superior Price/Performance for Portable Applications

TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 16, 2004) - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE:TXN) today announced a family of low-power, low-dropout, series-mode voltage references from the company's Burr-Brown product line. The devices offer precision and stability in a small package, making them ideal for portable and battery-powered devices (handheld instruments, PDAs), data acquisition systems and medical equipment. (See www.ti.com/sc04017.)

The REF31xx family features low drift (15ppm/C max), small size (SOT23-3), high accuracy (0.2 percent) and low power consumption (100uA typ). The family includes 1.25V, 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.0V, 3.3V and 4.096V output voltages.

"The combination of low temperature drift, accuracy, power consumption and cost, packaged in a tiny SOT23, offers customers a superior price/performance solution for a variety of high-performance data conversion applications," said Tadija Janjic, strategic marketing engineer of TI's high-performance amplifier products.

The REF31xx family is able to sink and source up to 10mA output current and provide a versatile supply range (up to 5.5V) useful for low voltage applications. The references do not require a load capacitor, and are stable with any capacitive load, providing design flexibility. Unloaded, the devices can be operated on a supply within 1mV of output voltage. All devices are specified over the extended temperature range of -40C to +125C.
