Three Phase Voltage Monitor: The PLM Series
ABB is pleased to announce a new addition to the SSAC brand of the three phase voltage monitors, the new microcontrolled PLM Series.
The PLM Series of octal plug-in 3 Phase Voltage Monitors protects three phase motors and other sensitive three phase equipment from damaging or destructive voltage faults. The PLM Series is designed to meet or exceed the NEMA Standards for phase loss, unbalance, and undervoltage protection. The PLM's new microcontroller circuit design more accurately senses phase loss, voltage unbalance, undervoltage and phase sequence than previous designs. The PLM provides motor protection even when regenerative voltages are present.
Operating voltages of 240, 380, and 480 VAC 50-100 Hz are available. The SSAC brand offers 35mm DIN rail or surface mountable sockets rated 600V for use with this device.
The PLM's easy-set knob adjust design simplifies on-site adjustment of the undervoltage trip point. Simply point the arrow to the voltage listed on the motor's nameplate and the low voltage trip point is set at the NEMA specification of -10%. The LED glows green and the isolated SPDT 8 amp relay contact transfers when all voltages are acceptable. During the factory fixed trip delay, the LED flashes red and then glows steadily red when the output de-energizes.
The PLM design features high immunity to line noise and transients. They are designed and tested to IEEE C62.41-1991 Level B surge protection. Three wire hook-up to Delta or Wye systems is possible.
