Consumer Electronics Designers Save Cost and Board Space with the Industry's Smallest, Most Highly Integrated SD/MMC Voltage Level Translator

Eliminates the need for more than 10 external discrete components

DALLAS, Jan. 15 /-- Engineers can now bridge the gap between two disparate voltage nodes while maintaining digital switching compatibility by using a tiny, highly integrated Secure Digital (SD)/MultiMedia Card (MMC) level shifter, introduced today by Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:TXN). The translator's auto-direction circuitry simplifies board design by eliminating the need for customers to program a General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) on a processor for direction control and thereby reduces the number of required pins. Highly integrated features of the TXS0206, packaged in a 2 mm x 1.6 mm wafer chip-scale package (WCSP), eliminate the need for more than 10 external discrete components and reduce overall system cost in consumer electronics, such as mobile handsets, digital cameras and portable navigation devices. For product details, see www.ti.com/txs0206-pr.

TXS0206 features

-- Clock frequencies up to 52 MHz

-- Data rates up to 60 Mbps

-- Supports 1.2-V, 1.5-V, 1.8-V, 2.5-V, and 3.3-V power-supply voltages

-- Built-in IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection
