SMC Launches Innovative DOCSIS 3.0 ISDN Primary Rate Interface Trunk Solution in North America

IRVINE, Calif., -- SMC Networks today launched the SMCV4702 DOCSIS 3.0 ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI) trunk solution in North America. The SMCV4702 enables cable operators to deliver business-class PRI trunk and high-speed data services to businesses over fiber or hybrid fiber coax networks, while also acting as a gateway between TDM-based PRI service and SIP.

"The SMCV4702 has been designed to enable North American cable operators to aggressively compete against the incumbent telcos in the high margin business services middle market by offering a complete voice and data service bundle, while leveraging their existing VoIP networks. It will allow our valued MSO customers to offer business telephony services to the large legacy PBX installed base using their existing data network and Voice Over IP infrastructure," says Todd Babic, President of SMC Networks. "This means that MSOs will be able to offer a complete voice services solution to virtually any of their current customers and to the large unaddressed market of potential commercial customers who aren't being served."

Some key features of the SMCV4702 include support for 2 T1 PRI ISDN trunks, providing the ability to connect PBXs, IP-PBXs and key systems to the switched network, 2 FXS ports for connecting analog phones/office equipment to the network, and 4 FXO ports to provide PSTN connectivity in disaster recovery scenarios. The WAN interface to the service provider data network can be a DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem, SFP-Ethernet, E-PON, or G-PON. The SMCV4702 includes a robust management function that supports configuration and set up, as well as fault and performance monitoring, of the device using SNMP or a Web-based GUI.

The SMCV4702 VoIP Gateway is now available for cable operators to demonstrate. Please contact SMC at 1-800-SMC-4YOU / 1-800-762-4968 to learn more about the SMCV4702 and our innovative Voice gateway products.
