Patton Launches High-Performance PRI VoIP Gateway

The SmartNode(TM) 4960 T1/E1/PRI VoIP IAD Enables Carriers to Profitably Deliver Low-Cost, High-Performance Converged Business-Class Services While Reducing Costs and Enhancing Services

SmartNode(TM)...More Than Just Talk!

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Aug. 14 // -- Patton Electronics -- the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions -- is taking orders for their new gateway, the SmartNode(TM) SN4960 T1/E1/PRI VoIP IAD.

Designed for a space-conserving footprint and loaded with business-class features, the SN4960 is a carrier-grade solution available at remarkably low prices. Patton is pushing pricing benchmarks in the business-class VoIP CPE market past the tipping point, so carriers can reduce the overall cost-per- subscriber, earning them larger market shares and profits.

Due for general availability in October, the SN4960 delivers 30 to 120 concurrent VoIP calls with QoS, traffic shaping, Voice-over-VPN, and voice encryption. The platform provides up to four T1/E1/PRI ports plus two gigabit- Ethernet ports.

"The mandate was clear," said Scott Whittle, VP of Product Management. "VoIP carriers demand high performance, interoperability, and low-costs. These are requirements, not options. Once again, Patton's technology innovations have exceeded carrier demands -- at cost points that fully support their business models."

SmartNode(TM) products have a strong six-year track record of deployments with satisfied carriers, thanks largely to SmartWare's highly adaptable architecture. To deliver business-class and premium services, carriers need robust CPE devices that support advanced functionality required for service delivery and carrier network integrations. The SN4960 answers those needs, supports all industry-standard CODECs, and offers proven interoperability with all major brands of softswitches. Patton SmartNodes(TM) also boast secure Voice-over-VPN with IPSec-encrypted voice-and-data and DownStreamQoS(TM) for uninterrupted toll-quality voice. Patton has a reputation for platform- longevity, continuous product enhancement, free software upgrades, and free support.

"These are exciting times," said Marco Liechti, Product Line Manager VoIP. "We've basically re-invented the PRI-class VoIP router. It's smaller than ever and super-fast, with built-in state-of-the-art security, and the framework for the next-generation standards."

The SN4960 is the first major-brand PRI gateway to include dual Gig- Ethernet ports. The device measures only 12Lx7Wx1.75H inches (30.5Lx18Wx4.5H cm). The SN4960 hardware platform includes expanded processing power for accelerated encryption. The SmartWare development roadmap includes support for CODEC-based encryption protocols SRTP and TLS.

Patton has planned promotional offers that will accelerate adoption by both carrier and enterprise customers.
