Ranpak® Introduces FillPak(TM) High-Speed Voidfill System



New design creates the fastest, most economical void-fill system on the market

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, October 10, 2002 - Ranpak Corp. introduces the newest addition to its line of patented packaging products - the FillPak voidfill system. Designed for high-speed, high-volume top and side voidfill applications, FillPak uses fanfold, single-ply kraft paper to swiftly produce an economical voidfill product for random applications.

FillPak is the fastest, most economical voidfill system on the market. FillPak converters create a star-shaped tube of paper, which is geometrically the most efficient way to fill a void in the top of a box. Voidfill materials are used to fill the unnecessary spaces or voids within a container after the item or items have been placed inside the box.

The Ranpak FillPak system is also unique in using fanfold paper and connecting one box of fanfold paper to another, thus reducing downtime. Seven 100-cubic-foot boxes of Ranpak fanfold paper can be queued in the machine stand - enough to provide several days' production without stopping. This design virtually eliminates changeover time, enabling all of a packer's labor to be directed toward filling boxes. In addition, FillPak is easily operated by a foot switch, freeing the packer's hands for packing.

The FillPak converter is designed to generate voidfill material at extremely high speeds with minimal downtime. Three operating speeds are standard: 20 in. per second, 35 in. per second and a lightning fast 55 in. per second. The system is designed to fit over any conveyor to dispense product directly into a box, further increasing the speed and efficiency of packing. The FillPak converter is designed to integrate easily into a voidfill or pick and pack operation, but as with other Ranpak converters, system integration and modification are available.

FillPak was introduced to great fanfare at the Dusseldorf InterPack Show in April, and the system is in commercial production in Europe. The U.S. introduction will be at the PMMI Pack Expo International Show at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois, November 3-7, with commercial availability January 1, 2003.
