ViXS(TM) Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) Chip Set Achieves Certification

Certification enables volume production of ViXS' XConnex™ MoCA chips in Cable Gateway Deployments

TORONTO – ViXS Systems Inc. today announced that it has successfully completed and passed MoCA Certification on its MoCA chip set. The MoCA chip set consisting of the XConnex 1000 and XConnex 1030 passed the MoCA Certification Test Plan (CTP) at MoCA's authorized independent test facility of National Technical Systems (NTS) in Culver City California.

"We are excited to have ViXS join a growing list of semiconductor system solution providers endorsing MoCA as the leading home networking technology by developing this new product line," said Charles Cerino, MoCA President. "ViXS is a great example of a company able to provide standalone and integrated solution using MoCA technology to better serve multiple domestic and international markets."

"We are delighted to have certified our XConnex MoCA chip solution, and we look forward to ramping commercial shipments with our customers," said Sally Daub, President and CEO, ViXS Systems Inc. "ViXS continues to expand its already robust connectivity solutions and to solidify its leadership position in multimedia networking, enabling consumer electronics manufacturers, pay television providers and broadcasters worldwide to deploy high-performance media services for consumers."

The ViXS XConnex 2-chip MoCA solution consists of a Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver, and a System on Chip (SoC) integrating the Media Access Controller (MAC) and the Physical Layer (PHY). It supports both MoCA 1.0/1.1 and MoCA 2.0. In addition, ViXS has integrated its MoCA technology with its XCode® media processing family, the first product being the XCode® 5195 transcoder gateway SoC with 6 simultaneous high definition (HD) streams.

About MoCA®

MoCA is the worldwide technology standard for home entertainment networking. It is the only such technology standard in use by all three pay TV segments-cable, satellite and IPTV/telco. MoCA technology is also used as an in-home backbone to extend Wi-Fi® connectivity.

The Alliance has certified 127 certified products and has 53 members worldwide representing the home entertainment networking value chain including service providers, OEMs, middleware developers, consumer electronics companies and chip vendors.
