Viveo Group Responds to the New Stakes of the European Banks: Mixing SEPA Regulation and AML Battle

PARIS, April 24 -- Today banks need to rethink their Information Technology (IT)
in order to face two major European regulations: European standardization of payments ( SEPA - Single European Payment area - January 2008) and the battle against money laundering ( AML, 3rd European directive effective November 2007). Being a key player in information technology and consulting for banking and finance, Viveo differentiates itself by launching a unique solution that covers all functionalities to Europeanize the flow of payments, whilst securing them against practices of money laundering and terrorism financing. This unique offer can give banks the opportunity to easily integrate themselves in this new dimension of European payments whilst allowing them to gain efficiency in the detection of operations akin to money laundering.

Nicolas METIVIER, Business Development Manager SEPA at Viveo explains :" Indeed, this new dimension of European payments should rapidly favour and accelerate commercial exchanges between the countries of the European Community, estimated at over 56 billion transactions per year." Eric VAUDAINE, Business Development Manager AML adds: "Apart from a bigger volume, banks will swiftly have to face statutory restraints firm on conformity, traceability and security of their financial flows. Our solution finds dimension by uniting 'the best practices' of SEPA and AML via automated processes, so that this new European environment can be an opportunity for cost optimization, and state of the art compliance processes."

SEPAML solution, unveils Viveo Group expertise, relies on the best of technology in order to centralize the flow of European payments, amplify the analysis of information inherent to transactions and fight more resourcefully against money laundering. Auguste VANDEWYNCKELE, Business Manager Payment Means and Flow at Atos Origin declares: "With the upcoming opening of the new European payment environment, banks will have to manage financial flows from lesser known countries. Therefore bank directors, being legally responsible, have to arm themselves with tools and processes in order to ensure the origin of the funds.

Thanks to two major axis of investigation as transaction streaming (occurrence in the black lists published by national or supranational regulation authorities) and behavioural analysis (detection of unusual operations), the new Viveo solution is the guarantee for banks to simplify the control on the European payment transactions.

The application software which interfaces with all bank information systems, applies to all banks that imperatively have to be in conformity with the SEPA by January 2008, whilst applying the most adequate methods to fight against money laundering.
