Visteon's Innovative Connectivity Concepts on Display at Automechanika

FRANKFURT, Germany, Sept. 12 / -- Leading mobile electronics innovator Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC) will unveil its in-car infotainment solutions at Automechanika 2006. Visteon offers an extensive range of cutting edge mobile electronic applications that appeal to today's tech-savvy consumers. New concepts include an advanced Dual View display technology for family entertainment systems and innovative line extensions for USB and iPod® connectivity.

Automechanika is a leading international trade show for the automotive aftermarket, held in Frankfurt, Germany, from Sept. 12-17. Visteon products will be on display in Hall 3.0, Booth B91.

"The use of portable media devices in vehicles is a rapidly growing consumer trend," said Hans Eric Destree, Visteon's commercial director for aftermarket mobile electronics in Europe. "Our product development teams have focused on this trend, incorporating consumer feedback into product research."

The advanced Dual View concept is based on two-channel display technology, allowing exclusive dual view rear seat entertainment. A single overhead system is installed in the roof-liner of the car, which supports the reproduction of two different media sources simultaneously -- one user can play a video game, while the other passenger watches a movie. For extended entertainment functionality, Visteon also combines the Dual View overhead concept with a DVD player, making it possible for two rear seat passengers to view two different DVDs in parallel from different viewing angles.

Visteon is also showcasing its Integrated Audio and Video Interface for iPod at Automechanika. For enhanced connectivity, the audio head unit is equipped with an embedded iPod interface, eliminating the need for an external module. The iPod can be browsed and controlled remotely via the radio control unit. The display offers ID3 tag information with content navigation by artist, title, album, genre and play list. In addition, Visteon offers a solution to upgrade connectivity products for video playback. The concept on display shows a video-capable iPod connected to a Family Entertainment System. When connecting to the system -- using head unit displays or overhead monitor -- the technology allows video clips or movies from the iPod source to be displayed.

The Visteon-developed integrated USB connectivity system for DVD is a contemporary line extension to the USB utility and DVD player range. Visteon is showcasing this new concept with a USB interface directly incorporated into the DVD player. When connected to the screen of a Family Entertainment System or center information display, the integrated USB/DVD unit streams video files from the USB device onto the screen. This smart solution combines functional connectivity features with physical packaging requirements.
