VISTAGY Partners with AMD to Offer 64-Bit Support for Its Specialized Design Software

AMD64 Technology Maximizes Speed and Performance of EnCapta® Applications While Reducing Memory Constraints When Designing Large, Complex Parts or Assemblies

WALTHAM, Mass. - VISTAGY, Inc., a leading global provider of specialized engineering software, today announced that all its software, including the EnCapta® product family and the FiberSIM® suite of software, is available for 64-bit Windows® x64 editions, optimized for the AMD Opteron(TM) processor. As a result, manufacturers using VISTAGY's software now have access to nearly unlimited processing power to accurately and efficiently develop complete digital product models of complex parts or assemblies.

Design engineers face computing challenges including low memory and slow system performance when developing large and complex digital models within 32-bit environments. Engineers are often forced to divide models or datasets in order to comply with memory constraints. They also use simplification techniques such as removing rounds or chamfers from part designs to improve performance. These tactics can lead to design inaccuracies that may significantly increase product development cycles and manufacturing costs or impact the producibility of a product or part.

With AMD64 computing power and VISTAGY's EnCapta software applications, manufacturers can develop product models of any size or level of complexity with improved precision and accuracy. Design engineers now have the flexibility of running both 32- and 64-bit applications simultaneously, allowing them to grow into AMD64 technology at their own pace and retain existing IT assets to save on equipment and power costs. In addition, 64-bit technology enables design engineers to optimize performance and increase design speed in order to achieve faster time-to-part.

"In an effort to provide increased flexibility and optimal computing performance for our customers who develop complex product designs, we've teamed up with AMD to support 64-bit technology for all our software applications," said Johan Grape, director of technology at VISTAGY, Inc. "As a result, design-driven manufacturers in the aerospace, automotive and marine industries will realize a number of benefits including reduced IT costs and cycle times, increased speed, and fewer constraints on the design process."

"Due to the increased complexity of today's design and manufacturing engineering projects, more customers require the optimal scalability and performance offered by 64-bit platforms. VISTAGY recognizes this and has delivered specialized engineering software that enables customers to achieve better design and simulation results in less time by leveraging the strengths of multi-core and 64-bit computing," said Terri Hall, vice president, Software Alliances and Solutions at AMD. "Solutions based on the AMD Opteron processor and VISTAGY software can help reduce the complexities of change and are an ideal choice for manufacturing customers with large design projects that require greater memory bandwidth and scalability."
