visionapp Remote Desktop 2009 Supports More Protocols, Integrates mRemote Functions

AUBURN, Calif., Feb. 2 /- visionapp, the innovative leaders in application delivery management, today announced the availability of visionapp Remote Desktop 2009 (vRD 2009). vRD has been a popular tool for managing and accessing multiple Windows servers and desktops over RDP. With today's release, vRD 2009 supports a number of additional connection protocols such as Citrix ICA, VNC, SSH, Telnet and HTTP/S, thus allowing administrators to manage Citrix, UNIX/Linux, and Macintosh systems.

In addition, vRD 2009 has integrated many functions from mRemote, an open-source software tool acquired by visionapp in October 2008.

Older versions of vRD are already used by more than 120,000 administrators worldwide. vRD 2009 builds on the industry-leading feature set with accelerated access to servers and workstations, new security features, detailed logging and reporting, and enhancements to its industry-leading interface that allows multiple users to view all connected machines simultaneously.

vRD has been well received in the Windows administrator community. "vRD is a huge time saver in managing RDP connections and credentials," says Mike Campbell, a senior consultant at Greenville, South Carolina-based Exact Solutions.

"We're hooked on the app and use it daily," states Brian Gilbert, a system administrator with Tennessee-based Thomason Management. "I love the export feature. When switching to a new laptop, it saved me from having to set up each connection/credential all over again. I also love the 'Connect All' option."

Rui Fidalgo, a system administrator with Getty Images in the Seattle area, says, "I like the flexibility given to administrators, when they need to manage a large number of systems--and the fact that when in database mode, they all get to see immediate changes and all get to use the same objects."

visionapp engineers spent months gathering customer feedback on vRD 2008 and mRemote to build vRD 2009. New features include Smart Sizing for enhanced display, additional security protocol support, and enhanced database functionality.

vRD 2009 installs on Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3 or higher), Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista. Both x86 and x64 platforms are supported, both English and German are supported, and vRD has license options for a single administrator, a country company license, or a global license.
