Vision System targets transportation and logistics market.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for DV9500 vision system, DL VideoSorting(TM) software enables complete automation of sorting operations in parcel and mail distribution centers by managing activities such as no-reads and no-smart-labels online. Program provides automatic no-sorted parcel management when barcode or label is missing or too damaged to be read by vision system or when barcode is readable but sorting information is incomplete or not present in barcode data.

The New DL Videosorting System From Datalogic

Datalogic is pleased to announce the availability of its new DL VideoSorting(TM) system - a video coding software package for the DV9500 vision system.

Bologna, 10th January 2007 - The DL VideoSorting(TM) system is a videocoding solution for the DV9500 vision system from Datalogic, which provides complete automation in the transportation and logistics market. Coupled with the DV9500 vision system, the DL VideoSorting(TM) system enables complete automation of sorting operations in parcel and mail distribution centres by managing activities like no-reads and no-smart-labels online.

The overall videocoding system is composed of a complete software package and a hardware system. Higher system throughput can be achieved with the DL VideoSorting(TM) system due to automatic no-sorted parcel management when the barcode or label is missing or too damaged to be read by the vision system or when the barcode is readable but the sorting information is incomplete or not present in the barcode data.

In these cases the images are collected by the DV9500 vision system and sent to a computer server which elaborates the images and dispatches them to a remote key entry client system. An automatic Region of Interest Finder speeds up videocoding activities by extracting the image that most likely contains the block to be analysed and presents it zoomed and rotated. At this point an operator can manually enter the required information to sort the parcel online.

Datalogic offers with this solution the complete automation of a distribution centre, to avoid manual handling, reduce labour costs and enhance the sorting process speed and performance. Furthermore, the possibility of storing all the images and collected data with the use of statistical information can help to analyse and consequently improve the performance of the whole sorting system.
