Mitutoyo® Ball Endmill Vision Measuring System Improves Process Management
(Aurora, IL) Mitutoyo America Corporation announces availability of a new vision measuring system dedicated to measurement of ball endmill tooling. The unit features a chuck that holds the endmill, allowing it to be rotated as the vision system measures its R-contour resulting from grinding or re-grinding.
In operation, a digital angle counter indicates positions of the endmill cutting edge as it is rotated; a vision unit then captures images for analysis by resident Mitutoyo QSPAK® software which compares actual and nominal values to determine edge wear.
Periodically checking for abrasion wear of the ball endmill R-contour helps the user to forecast when to re-grind or replace, thus helping to maintain tolerances and improve process stability.
The Mitutoyo Ball Endmill Vision Measuring System employs a CCD camera to accurately detect position which reduces focus time and avoids focusing error. The system's QSPAK software is menu-driven, intuitive and easy to use. Clear reporting formats plus image-file archiving functions make the Ball Endmill Measuring System with QSPAK ideal for statistical process control and compliance routines while making it easy to incorporate data into production floor practices.
The Mitutoyo Ball Endmill Vision Measuring System configuration includes the measuring microscope, vision unit, QSPAK software, ball endmill measuring unit with digital rotary head, and a set of three (3) collet-chucks. The Ball Endmill Vision Measuring System can also serve as a measuring micrometer or as a vision measuring system for wide range of applications.
