HUDSON, N.H., April 16 -- The Sensors & Advanced Packaging (SAP) business unit of Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced the low shear ViSmart(TM) viscosity sensor with a universal serial bus (USB) connectivity option. The latest addition to the ViSmart(TM) product family is designed to provide instantaneous sample and/or continuous, real-time, in-process viscosity measurements for process control environments requiring high resolution and accuracy in low- to mid-range viscosity fluids. The USB connectivity option enables customers to attach the ViSmart(TM) viscosity sensor to any computer platform via a standard USB port and instantaneously acquire viscosity and temperature data critical to their responsibilities in areas such as fluid process control and equipment reliability for oil condition monitoring.

The low shear ViSmart(TM) viscosity sensor uses robust and reliable semiconductor technology and has no moving parts. It is unaffected by vibration or flow conditions, does not need field calibration and is packaged in a very portable size at 0.5 inches diameter, 3 inches long and 8 ounces. The ViSmart(TM) low shear sensor measures viscosity of fluid from 1 to 500 centipoise and is rated for temperatures up to 125 degrees C in the standard package, with custom options and configurations available for specific industry applications and process requirements. The ViSmart(TM) is sealed for complete immersion is a solid-state sensor.
The low shear ViSmart(TM) model series integrates to the eCup(TM) handheld viscosity sensor reader or to any computer platform via the standard USB port to provide a continuous audit trail for process monitoring markets to control operating costs and maintain quality standards. Additionally, the customer can acquire data from up to four ViSmart(TM) sensors and other physical parameter sensors such as pressure integrated to the ViSmart(TM) by utilizing the ViscNet(TM) software.
