Virtual UDP Switch helps optimize network performance.

Press Release Summary:

Based on Linux-based StealthWatch System of appliances, Flow Replicator(TM) appliance is virtual User Datagram Protocol (UDP) switch that receives UDP packets, duplicates them, and sends them to appropriate destination based on user-configured rules. Users can specify destinations based on source IP, destination IP, and destination port. Unit is suited for large network management environments which require multiple NetFlow(TM), sFlow®, SNMP, or syslog collectors.

Lancope Delivers Flow Replicator(TM)

First Commercially Available Virtual UDP Switch ~

ATLANTA, Dec. 11 -- Lancope, Inc., the provider of the StealthWatch(TM) System, the most widely used network behavior analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced the Flow Replicator(TM) appliance, the first commercially available virtual User Datagram Protocol (UDP) switch that rapidly replicates and redistributes any unidirectional UDP datagrams. Based on Lancope's Linux-based StealthWatch System of appliances, the Flow Replicator is a high speed, high performance solution that is easy-to-manage, easy-to-deploy and extremely valuable in large network management environments, which require multiple NetFlow(TM), sFlow®, SNMP, or syslog collectors.

The powerful Flow Replicator appliance delivers the following key benefits:

o Simplifies network device configuration
The ability to configure all devices across the enterprise to a single
collector destination dramatically simplifies network configuration,
resulting in significant man-hours savings.

o Reduces network traffic
Routers and switches need send only one stream of data to the Flow
Replicator, reducing network traffic and optimizing network bandwidth.

o Reduces load on routers and switches
The Flow Replicator allows for a single collector destination,
reducing the amount of work required when sending the UDP packet to
the collector.

The Flow Replicator receives UDP packets, duplicates them and sends them to the appropriate destination based on user-configured rules. Users can specify destinations based on source IP, destination IP, and destination port. Several organizations, including AirTran Airways, U.S. Department of Interior and the Internal Revenue Service, currently use Lancope's Flow Replicator to consume NetFlow packets from several NetFlow-enabled routers and forward them to the StealthWatch Xe for NetFlow collector for network behavior analysis.

"Despite its wide availability for some time, organizations are just now recognizing the benefits of harnessing flow data," said Phil Hochmuth, senior analyst with Yankee Group. "As the adoption of flow-based monitoring gains momentum, virtual UDP switches, which enable organizations to maximize the applications of flow data, will become a critical component for any large enterprise."

"By overcoming the physical limitations of collecting flow data, the Flow Replicator helps organizations maximize ROI of their network infrastructure, optimize network performance and simplify network administration," added Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "When the Flow Replicator is deployed in conjunction with the StealthWatch System, organizations gain end- to-end network visibility through flow-based anomaly detection and network performance monitoring."
