Videojet Demonstrates New Marking/Coding Solutions at 2006 Pack Expo International

WOOD DALE, Ill. (USA) - November 6, 2006 - Videojet Technologies Inc., the worldwide leader in variable data marking/coding solutions, demonstrated several new products in its booth at the 2006 Pack Expo International trade show held Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 at Chicago's McCormick Place. Headlining the demonstrations were the new Videojet Excel® DN ink jet printer, ideal for customers who want to print multi-line variable codes and messages at high speeds, and the soon-to-be-released Videojet 3120 laser coder, which delivers best-in-class marking speed, complex marking capabilities and easy integration for a wide range of permanent coding applications.

The Videojet Excel DN ink jet printer addresses the expanding needs of the marketplace by offering a greater number of lines of print at production line speeds that today's manufacturers demand. It allows users to reliably print two lines of code at speeds up to 916 feet per minute (279 m/min.), and print up to eight total lines of information. With a marking speed of up to 1,200 characters/second and line speeds up to 10 meters/second (depending on the application), the Videojet 3120 is the fastest laser marker in its class. The Videojet 3120 marks complex, multi-line alphanumeric messages, foreign language fonts, graphics, symbols and machine-readable codes.

Other products demonstrated at Videojet's booth included:

The recently introduced Videojet 3320 30-watt laser coder, which prints permanent codes, bar codes and logos on a variety of substrates, including glass, plastic, rubber, cardboard and labels.

The Videojet 1120 small character Micro Valve ink jet printer, a simple-to-operate-and-maintain single-fluid system that prints reliable codes with fast-drying solvent-based inks.

The Videojet 1310 ink jet printer, designed to start and stop without the need for cleaning. Specially designed no-mess bottles guarantee ink and make-up fluid are fully deposited into the reservoir, eliminating waste.

The Videojet DataFlex® Plus thermal transfer overprinter, which features patented direct-drive ribbon technology that minimizes downtime and costs associated with ribbon breaks.

The Videojet 2330 and Marsh® 3100 large character ink jet printers, both of which feature a patented automatic self-cleaning and self-maintenance system.

A variety of inks for continuous ink jet printers, including fluids formulated for solid general purpose code durability on a wide variety of substrates.

A key emphasis for Videojet at Pack Expo was brand protection through product marking and coding, highlighted by a seminar by Jack Walsh, Videojet market manager for brand protection solutions, during The Conference at Pack Expo.

"Companies spend millions on the development and promotion of brands, but that investment is being threatened as never before through counterfeiting and diversion," Walsh said. "Creating an overt or covert code that is unique to the product, difficult to duplicate and consistent with the brand's image helps assure brand authentication."
