Ampex Announces Next-Generation ISR Video Server System

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., -- Ampex Data System Corporation today announced the release of their ruggedized video server system, the TuffServ(TM) 100 Video Server (TS 100v). Specifically designed to serve the ever expanding requirements of the ISR community, the TS 100v has been developed to support the data acquisition needs of the latest high-performance EO/IR sensors. The system acquires data from HD-SDI (SMPTE-292M) sensors and supports both 720p60 and 1080p30 resolutions/rates. Once acquired, video play-out to both onboard processors and tactical data link systems is supported. The TS 100v is capable of recording approximately 14 hours of high-definition video using
H.264/MPEG4 encoding with associated audio.

A key consideration when selecting systems is the overall cost of ownership. The TS 100v uses low-cost Compact Flash solid state memory that allows the use of a conventional personal computer system and existing video player software for post mission replay and debriefing. The small-volume, low-weight and minimal power requirements of the TS 100v make it an ideal data acquisition solution for airborne, vehicle, shipboard and fixed-ground ISR applications.

A range of future enhancements are programmed for the TS 100v, including the multiplexing of KLV metadata in the transport stream and additional SSD storage options.

Ampex will be providing operational demonstrations of the TS 100v at the upcoming AUVSI Unmanned Systems North America Conference to be held August 16-19 at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center.
