Video-Over-IP Gateway conforms with Pro-MPEG standards.
Press Release Summary:
Chameleon vidX(TM) WAN multi-port gateway transports broadcast-quality digital video over IP networks. Using QoS technology, unit uses forward error correction to shield video from impairments imposed by IP networks and controls network jitter, packet loss, duplicate packets, and out-of-order packets. With 4 ASI input ports, 4 ASI output ports, and Gigabit Ethernet network interface, vidX WAN can act as bridge between ASI digital video sources and IP networks.

Path 1 Demonstrates Successful Interoperability Testing With New Carrier-Class Product at VidTrans 2005
Path 1's vidX(TM) WAN Showcases Leadership by Adopting Standards for IP Video Delivery With Forward Error Correction (FEC) That Adhere to the Pro-MPEG Forum Code of Practice (COP) #3
ATLANTA, Feb. 2 - Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. (AMEX:PNO), a leading provider of video routing products that enable the transmission of broadcast-quality video over IP networks, today announced the successful completion of interoperability demonstrations of its new leading edge vidX(TM) WAN video-over-IP gateway product in conformance with the latest Pro-MPEG standards for IP encapsulation and Forward Error Correction.
The Path 1 vidX WAN multi-port video-over-IP gateway is designed to transport broadcast-quality digital video over IP networks. Using Path 1's advanced QoS technology, the Chameleon vidX wan uses forward error correction to shield the video from any impairments imposed by IP networks and controls network jitter, packet loss, duplicate packets, and out-of-order packets effectively so that video quality and integrity are not compromised. With its 4 ASI input ports, 4 ASI output ports, and Gigabit Ethernet network interface, the vidX WAN can act as a bridge between ASI digital video sources and IP networks, as well as providing IP to IP conditioning and transport. The vidX WAN's flexible architecture allows simultaneous ASI to IP, IP to ASI, and IP to IP connections. All of the capabilities are offered in a single rack unit for space efficiency.
"This demonstration confirms Path 1's commitment and leadership position in driving successful adoption of interoperability standards for the IP video market," said John Zavoli, President and CEO of Path 1. "The vidX WAN was developed with input from some of the world's largest broadcast and network operators who need a highly scalable and reliable multi-port system, which will allow them to easily manage and deploy IP video services quickly and cost-effectively."
As a pioneer in the video-over-IP space, Path 1 has been an active participant in the development of Pro-MPEG standards which will help to accelerate the growth of the video-over-IP industry. The Pro-MPEG Forum is an association of broadcasters and program-makers, equipment manufacturers and component suppliers with interests in realizing interoperability of professional television equipment, in accordance with the implementation requirements of broadcasters and other end-users.
Path 1 products offer Broadcasters, Satellite operators, MSOs, Telcos and Carriers transporting video the ability to "future proof" their communications network with live video gateways that use a unique software-driven architecture to ensure scalability and upgradeability. This represents Path 1's first product with industry-standard forward error correction (FEC). The demonstration consisted of a live network environment created with simulated impairments and was designed to confirm that the Pro-MPEG recommended 'standard" would achieve multi-vendor interoperability.
The vidX WAN will be generally available at the end of Q1 2005.
