Video Analytics for Multi-Core Embedded Systems

Berkeley, California -- November 13 - Eutecus, Inc. now offers video analytics for high-speed image processing on embedded security/surveillance applications. These complex algorithms process images from security cameras and identify a wide range of behaviors that require further investigation by human security staff--such as people loitering, removing or abandoning an object, or cars or people entering a restricted area.

Eutecus Acting CEO and Vice President of Business Development, Stephen Hester, says, "The emerging market for video analytics for security applications represents an extraordinary opportunity for us to leverage the unique and industry-proven capabilities for high-speed embedded image processing that we have developed over the last five years.

"It is widely recognized in the video analytics industry that as networks of security cameras grow larger and more complex, bandwidth and processing limitations will force video analytics applications closer to the edges of the network-into the cameras themselves. With over a hundred man-years of R&D efforts that resulted in the award winning Bi-i series of ultra-high speed intelligent cameras and the software that can best utilize their speed, Eutecus is one of only a handful of companies in the world capable of delivering embedded video analytics applications for a range of processing types including DSPs, FPGAs and SoCs."

Eutecus has a number of contracts with the U.S. government and private corporations for military, aerospace, and security applications.

Dr. Akos Zarandy, Eutecus Co-CTO and Vice President of Technology, gave a talk at the In-Stat Microprocessor Forum in San Jose, California, in October, where he discussed "Multicores for Embedded Applications."

In his presentation, Dr. Zarandy said, "We are witnessing the introduction of the ultra-high performance multi-core processor array to the embedded space." Eutecus is at the forefront of developing solutions that harness the full capabilities of this emerging technology.

Several demos showcasing some of Eutecus' video analytics capabilities-algorithms for tracking people, objects, and vehicles and then classifying their behavior-are available for download on the Eutecus website. These applications can be customized to run on a wide range of embedded platforms, and will also be available for the new multi-core sensor-processor chips discussed by Dr. Zarandy at the Microprocessor Forum.

Eutecus, Inc., of Berkeley, CA is a private company delivering cost-effective image processing solutions -- technology, components and applications -- to multiple markets including Intelligent Video Analytics and Surveillance, Government / Military and Machine Vision by making sensing and processing faster, more intelligent and easier to use than today's state-or-the-art methods. Eutecus has a multifaceted partnership with AnaLogic Computers Kft. of Budapest, Hungary to extend, promote and commercialize vision systems that use the novel Cellular Visual Technology.
