Hardy Introduces Machinery Protection in a Box

San Diego, CA (short version) - Hardy Instruments' new Hardy Vibration Switch provides rugged and reliable machine production in a compact package. The Hardy Vibration Switch is a low cost, self-contained monitoring system that can be mounted to any location on rotating or reciprocating equipment, and provides alarm or shutdown if excessive vibration levels are reached. No vibration expertise is required to install and set up the vibration switch, as all sensing and electronic components along with an LED alarm display are included in the stand-alone switch box. The switch also incorporates an integral relay to provide failsafe operation with both normally open and normally closed contacts in the most rugged of installations. An optional 4-20mA analog output on the Vibration Switch provides the capability to trend vibration levels on equipment as part of predictive maintenance efforts.

An ISO 9001-certified manufacturer, Hardy Instruments is based in San Diego, California. For more information about Hardy Instruments, please visit www.hardyinstruments.com or call 1-800 821-5831.

San Diego, CA (long version) - Hardy Instruments introduces the Hardy Vibration Switch, which provides rugged and reliable machine production in a compact package. The Hardy Vibration Switch is a low cost, self-contained monitoring system that can be mounted to any location on rotating or reciprocating equipment, and provides alarm or shutdown if excessive vibration levels are reached. This type of protection minimizes the risks of catastrophic equipment failures and allows maintenance crews to plan in a responsive manner rather than react in emergency mode.

No vibration expertise is required to install and set up the vibration switch, as all sensing and electronic components are installed within the stand-alone switch box. A setpoint adjustment dial and LED Alarm indication provides the user with the ability to quickly dial in an appropriate alarm setpoint on the switch. An alarm time delay adjustment allows the user to program the switch to alarm when a high vibration level is maintained for a set period of time, thus eliminating nuisance alarms. The switch also incorporates an integral relay to provide failsafe operation with both normally open and normally closed contacts in the most rugged of installations. The Class 1 Division 1 packaging of the switch allows for installation in hazardous environments.

An optional 4-20mA analog output on the vibration switch provides the capability to trend vibration levels on equipment as part of predictive maintenance efforts. This analog signal, which is directly proportional to the total energy level of the equipment vibration, can be directly input into a local or remote PLC or DCS system.
